Mike Scott and I sat down one morning to record a bit. Here's one of our favorites from that day - the Duke Ellington classic, "All Too Soon."
I perform as often as I can all around LA and Orange Counties. Most often, I am playing solo piano and singing, but I also perform with my trio, my duo (called Skirt & Suit with Joshua Payne) and also with whoever asks me to join them, whenever they ask!
Some of my favorite local collaborators are Mike Scott, Shane Savala, Bruce Lett, Lyman Medieros, Steve Cotter, Kendall Kay, and I could go on and on.
I love to play and you can always find my gig dates on the “GIGS” tab of this site.
This was my video for Jam Of The Week on Facebook this week to celebrate one of my hero's birthdays...Mr. John Coltrane. I didn't have much time so I stopped and got a little crazy with this!

"Stella by Starlight" is one of the most popular standards, ranked number 10 by the website jazzstandards.com. Its May 1947 recording by Harry James and his orchestra reached the 21st place in the pop charts. Two months later, the recording by Frank Sinatra with Axel Stordahl and his orchestra also rose to the 21st position. "Stella by Starlight" is a popular song by Victor Young that was drawn from thematic material composed for the main title and soundtrack of the 1944 Paramount Pictures film, The Uninvited.
When I asked my friends to help me come up with the most swinging pop and rock melodies they could think of, they really stepped up! I had fun putting together this list and playing them for you. In the follow-up video, we will talk about what makes a really good swinging melody and how to phrase it so that it swings even harder!
