The Speed Of Sunset
Aimee Nolte’s 5th album,The Speed Of Sunset, Released: November 14 2025
This is my new EP, “The Speed of Sunset.” It is a brief look at my life, lately. It consists of five tracks - all of them, original compositions. The first is a sketch of my new life with the love of my life, John, now that our children have moved away, and we are alone again. The second is written for my youngest son, Louis. I wrote it for him one night when I knew that he was up, studying very late for finals at his university, which is thousands of miles away from me. I hoped that it could help him through that week and maybe for the rest of his life when things get tough and I’m not close by. The third song is for my sister, Emma. She’s 10 years younger than me and we have lived several miles apart for years, but there have been key moments in our lives when we have carried each other and this song is my way of both thanking her and letting her know that when more tough times come, I will be there. Track four is for my third oldest, Charlie. It speaks to his nature. The string quartet pays homage to the beautiful soundtracks from old Disney films, which Charlie adores and the lyric is a portrait of everything he has taught me. The fifth composition is the only song not written for someone on this EP. It’s introspective. Mirrors is a look inside. It was a challenge to myself. Could I create something beautiful out of an exercise that I thought of? It both ascends, and descends, alternating between major and minor chords as it progresses. At the halfway point, everything reverses, and in a way, it is a mirror image of itself. It is effortlessly carried by the nylon string playing of my longtime collaborator and friend, Mike Scott.

Words and Music by Aimee Nolte
Aimee Nolte - piano, all vocals
Mike Scott - nylon string guitar
Geoff Rayback - bass
Lyrics
We Will
We rise and fall
just like the tide on the sea
With every breath
like it was all meant to be
The shape of shadows
The twilight moon
The speed of sunset
The touch of you
I feel it now
like it was all meant to be
Just like a dream
you’re singing softly to me
We’ve spent a million days like this
inside a daydream and a kiss
It’s such a simple thing
It’s such a crazy dream
With every trip around the sun
and every in between
How nice the quiet seems
It’s everything
The rising and the falling of the tide
A never-ending thing
with mountains beckoning
and every unexpected turn
beyond our reckoning
We’ll have such dreams to share
I promise you
We will
I know we will

Lyrics
In a moment, Louis
I know things will be much better
Though it might seem like it’s hard now
In a moment, Louis
Though it might seem crazy
Take a breath and close your eyes now
Make a guest and turn the tide now
It’ll happen, Louis
The boy that I know gets a great big idea
He can see where it goes
He can find his way there
He can climb to the roof
He can light up the night with his love
He can sing you a song
that will tear you in two
When you think that you’re lost
he will help you break
though it might take some time
It might take some time
For a moment, Louis
Try to capture how it feels now
You can pause the spinning wheels now
For a moment, Louis
3. Emma, Let’s Go
Aimee Nolte vocals, piano, backing vocals, producer, composer, arranger
Pritesh Walia on guitar
Shannon Canchola on flutes
Lyrics
Emma, Let’s Go
I was there when you were born
One of the first to hold you tight
To dress you up, to hold your hand
To say good night
Sisters - strong as we could be
far enough apart that being close wasn’t easy
Big sister was a role that I was born to play
And when the world got more confusing I would carry you and whisper in your ear
Emma, let’s go. Your friends can wait to see you
now it’s time to for us to talk and get things straight
Emma, let’s go. We’ve always worked it out before you know I’ve got your back and you’ve got mine
I wasn’t there the day the sky
came crashing down that summer night
About eleven hours away
I drove all night
Sisters - sad as we could be
far enough apart that holding you wasn’t easy
My sister was a role that you were born to play
And when the doctors and the fighting were too much for us to bear I took your hand
Emma, let’s go. It’s safer in my arms and
now it’s time for us to talk and get things straight
Emma, let’s go. We’ve always worked things out before you know I’ve got your back and you’ve got mine
So rough for us to be apart
to make the choice to let him go
I guess that he just couldn’t be
the kind of dad we used to know
Sisters - tough as we could be
Old enough to know that letting go isn’t easy
Daughter is a role that changes over time
and when he couldn’t put us first you called me up and said hey sis let’s break away
Sister, let’s go.
We’re better off without him
and sometimes in life you've got to say goodbye
Aimee, Let’s go
We’ve always worked things out before
you know I’ve got your back and you’ve got mine
Emma,let’s go. Emma,let’s go. Emma, let’s go.

Leah Metzler - Cello
Kiara Ana Perico - Violins and Viola
Lyrics
Charlie, from the very moment I saw you
It was you for all time
You found me - and my world was never the same
You came…
You showed me, with your song
I was wrong to think I knew what love was all about
You showed me how to see the world
and dream
You opened up my world
With your love - somehow you knew just what to do
And in your eyes of baby blue, I see the world
and dream
